About Horsforth Village Museum

A museum run on an entirely voluntary basis dedicated to preserving the history of Horsforth: funded entirely by donations, fundraising and shop gifts.

Horsforth was once described as the largest village in England and somehow managed to retain some of it’s village identity, character and sense of community. The Museum aims to reflect this heritage in its interesting exhibits which are drawn from all aspects of life in and around Horsforth and have a great nostalgia and educational value. The Museum, which opened in 1988 is situated on “The Green” at the heart of the old village.
